Bad Motherboard??

October 17, 2010 at 21:34:32
Specs: Windows XP
My computer has been acting up and I was told it might be the motherboard going bad, or the power supply. It sometimes won't load when I turn it on. Other times it will start with Windows than go into a coma. Just freeze there. I turn it off and on a couple times till it works. Running XP. Also a couple of years ago my floppy stopped working. Is it time to repair or replace?

If you have opened the case and thoroughly cleaned it, and checked the cmos battery, it is probably the power supply not the mobo. A really good power supply is about $50 from here:

You can get an external usb floppy drive from Ebay (ten bucks) brand new.
A nice new computer with Windows 7 installed will definitely be faster though.

Well, knowing what you currently have would certainly be helpful.
