Specs: Windows 7
Anyone have any clues on this. Have Asus p6t with realtek audio built in. worked great before service pak 1
Windows 64bit system, 8Gbyt memory, 750G hard drive. Should I just go to system restore point?

Try to downloading updated realtek driver and re-installing it before doing a restore. Sometimes when installing video cards, you need to re-install audio drivers.

I have had the same exact issue! Asus CM5570 realtek. Was working fine until windows update.
I tried a rollback to a restore point, didn't work. I've disabled, enabled, uninstalled, installed drivers from realtek and from Asus. Nothing works. I thought maybe it was a coincidence, and my onboard sound chip was fried at the same time as windows update, until I saw your post.
Errors: realtek high definition audio has a driver problem , this device cannot start. (code 10), unknown device on high definition audio bus
and buried in a log in event viewer "device has a pnp problem" and cm_prob_failed_start and verifytrustfailed for rtkcfg64.dll
