Hi everyone:

I bought Dell XPS 8100 desktop that came with the ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series video card. I had some problems updating a BIOS on that video card after couple failures. Dell tech support sent me a replacement GeForce GT 240 card from nVidia. In the meantime my friend helped me to update the BIOS on the ATI card and now it seems to work just fine. So now I have dilemma which card to keep. Any suggestions?

Hd 5770 or hd 5750? Both cards perform better than geforce 240gt. Why did u update v-card firmware?

HD 5770 > HD 5750 > GT 240 (GDDR5) > GT 240 (GDDR3)

Why are you messing with the video card BIOS in the 1st place? What were you hoping to accomplish?

I check the Dell driver download page by my service tag and it has it as "AMD - Radeon HD 5770". If I check Device Manager, under "Display adapters" it says, "ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series".

The reason I started updating video BIOS is because sometimes screen would freeze unexpectedly and I had to reboot computer by holding power button. I then went to the Dell driver download page and it had BIOS update for that card marked as "urgent".

So, thanks for the benchmark results, and even though it's not an exact match for the ATI card, I see that it's much better then the nVidia card.
