I'm upgrading my brothers PC; replacing the m/b, cpu, memory and vga. Installed all components, I turn it on and nothing no post, screen stays in standby mode. Motherboard is a Asus P7H55-M
Cpu is i5-750 (2.66GHz)
Memory is Kingston KVR1333D3N9K2/4G 2pack (is on the qualified vendors list for m/b)I have noticed that when i install the memory into the blue dimm's it gives post error beep of 1 long beep 3 short beeps. In the black dimm's there is no post. Also my PSU only has 1x 4pin to plug into the m/b, but the m/b gets power so thought not a issue, cap was covering the other 4pin.
Is my m/b faulty? or memory? or do i need new PSU with 2x 4pin for the m/b?
Solved, installed a PCIE video card and now works, i guess maybe a small fault with motherboard that the onboard vga doesn't work.
Thanks for letting us know you solved the problem. I'm surprised that board has onboard video. Do you have the Pro version ? Most boards like that today have no onboard video. Here is someone else with a similar problem.

I'm also curious what psu you have.
im having a similar problem, using a asus p7h55-m and a intel i3 -550 3.2 cpu.. no gpu at the moment.. starts up ok but no display at all through the vga, tried putting a graphics cards ( a pny geforce 220 and then geforce 8800 gs) in wouldnt even start up.. trying to build this for my mate. have no idea whats up with it .
psu is 500w works in my comp fine, already had the hurdle of discovering his psu was faulty now this..
help would be much appreciated
cheers
The Asus P7H55m Pro's 'onboard video' is actually just support for the GPU that comes built in to Intel Core i3's and some Core i5's (these are the 'Clarkdale' line of processors). Higher end i5's and Core i7's are Lynnfield processors, and have no built in graphics processor. So the motherboards graphics will only work with Clarkdale processors. So, for the original poster, there's nothing wrong with the motherboard - your processor just isn't a version that has a built in graphics processor. Also, with a Lynnfield processor on this motherboard, if you are only using 2 DIMMS of RAM (rather than 4) they MUST be in the blue slots. With Clarkdale processors they can be in the blue or the black. My motherboard came with a slip of paper making note of that fact.
Draco,
Does what you said about the Asus P7H55-m Pro apply to the Asus p7H55-m? (not pro) I am having the same problem with my new mobo, and even with an outside card, an Asus EAH5450 I am getting a black screen. Also I've seen a few posts about RAM. I have sector 5 RAM from Patriot Memory. Could that be a factor?
