Solved ASUS can't get back into Aptio Setup Utility to disable boot

Specs: Windows 10, 2GB RAM
Hi all,

I ran into the blue Aptio Setup Utility screen this afternoon and sadly, I proceeded to set the passwords it was asking for then saved and exited. Now each time I hibernate/sleep my laptop, starting it up again requires all those passwords to be punched in before I get to the Windows 10 password screen.

I'd like to know if there is any way to get back to the Aptio screen so that I can disable this boot and have my laptop start up in Windows directly again. I tried doing a System Recovery to an earlier date before this occurred but that changed nothing. Would be grateful if anyone knows how I can get back to Aptio Setup and disable it so that my laptop starta up directly into Windows. A command prompt perhaps? (I don't know. Not too tech savvy).

Thank you.

The Aptio Setup Utility is the UEFI/BIOS so using System Restore or the command prompt won't help. Here's a link to the manual. See page 64 of 112. Clear the password(s), there was no reason to set one up.

Thanks for the manual. I restarted the laptop but it goes straight to asking me to enter the passwords that I'd set. The manual advised pressing F2 while in POST but I'm not sure at which point that is because the first screen I encounter after restarting is that password request, so I press F2 but nothing happens even when pressed for a long period or pressed continuously.

Hi Khadi,

try continually tapping the F2 at the same time you switch on and it powers up.

May have to try more than once.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Continually pressed F2 and after several tries it finally worked! I managed to disable the passwords and now it starts up normally again. Thank you Riider and Mike. You've been a great help :)
