Armada 7400 Firmware Issues

Hewlett-packard Compaq armada 7400
February 27, 2010 at 05:16:55
Specs: Windows 98SE, 64MB
The hidden BIOS partition was erased I was in
the process of recreating it. (This laptop has
no Floppy drive). I was updating the Firmware
when the power was pulled from the laptop
accidentally (stupid dog). Now when I try to
turn the computer on, the lights flash
continuously and there are no beeps, the
internal fan does not come on, and there
seems to be no power to the CD-ROM
because I can't open it. Is there a way I can fix
this without having to replace the system
board? Thanx in advance.

Try pulling the cmos battery out. Wait a few seconds and reinstall it. It's a small battery about the size of a nickle and is on the mobo.

Thanx for your reply. I've tried that. Actually, I took both batteries
out. would that make a difference? I've read that you kill all power
from the board to reset it... But if I need to keep the other battery
on there, I should try it. What do you think? Thanx again.

I'm not familiar with that machine, but when all else fails, take a look at the manual and see what it says.By interrupting the flashing process in mid stream, you may have damaged the chip. Give the bill to the dog :)

I was thinking the same thing, I was hoping I was wrong. I just
want to be sure that there is nothing I could do before I scrap the
project. Thanx again.
