APTIO BIOS setup see No HDD after doing update on Windows 10

Specs: Windows 10
I recently did an update on windows 10 ASUS Q502 notebook. The PC rebooted and the Aptio setup utility (bios) came up. The hard drive does not show up under boot options. The PC has been running great with no previous signs of HD issues. The HD is spinning up normally. I try to restore from restore flash it says that my HD is locked??

Try this. Remove the power supply and battery from the notebook, wait about 10 seconds then put the battery back in and connect the power supply.

I wanted to do that but the back cover of this notebook seems to be part of the CPU heat sink..id have to pry it off with a screw diver and would probably damage it risking the warranty. But I think you're right..if I don't at least try it I'll never know . Thanks

after removing the battery (not easy!) and resetting the computer, the hard drive still is not recognized by the bios. I was able to hook up the HD to the USB port via SATA to USB adapter to eliminate the SATA interface and it still did not recognize the drive. I then took another HD off of my MAC desktop and plugged it into the USB port and finally a drive was recognized by the bios. The hard drive is cooked after only 2 months of run time.Good Grief!!! It's going back on warranty.
