Your 80gb hdd won't recognize by bios. So u connect it as primary slave? What it's master device optical drive or hdd? Go to bios and check primary or secondary ide are enabled. Check the connection well<data cable, power cable> make sure jumpers are set correctly. If failed try to change data cable. To know the name of your mobo click start>run>msinfo32>system info window appears and click system summary(left side) and look 4 system manufacture & system model to your right side.

thanks for the reply but finally the bios detected when i placed a jumper since the hdd doesnt have jumper at all
when i started to boot i had did partioned and while restarting it has stucked saying missing operating system
I tried several ways that changing 1st boot cd rom and even and boot ideo 0 or ide1 etc

and one more thing i had connected seperately one ribbon from mobo to hdd and the other ribbon from mobo to dvd rom
since both are not running once may causing some problem to detect hdd

"missing operating system" but u said u have already format the drive in anothe system. U need to install new os<u need xp installation disc>.

It's not recommended to connect the hdd & optical drive on the same cable(ide cable) sometimes it can cause hdd or cd/dvd drive or both drives to not recognized.

If you have the drive in question connected to a cable with a CD drive also connected then the drive is an IDE ATA type, not a SATA.

You can't install WinXP on one computer, then move the drive to a second computer and expect Windows to work. That is by Microsoft design.

If you need WinXP on that computer you need to install WinXP on that computer. You can only use a WinXP installation key on one computer at a time.

If you used a branded copy of WinXP like one from Dell, etc. then it isn't going to work at all.

After re-reading your original post I see you formatted the hard drive in the other computer. That means you erased Windows off that hard drive. It isn't going to work unless you re-install Windows on that hard drive.

actually their was no jumper at all to the hard drive but i dont know how it worked on my pc and i deleted the hard drive partitions. After this i fixed to the first pc and then booted with boot disc
again here it asked to format so i used fdisk and made partioned after this it went to restart and it stucked missing operating system
I tried several times removing cables and even changed primary to secondary etc.finally it got booted with windows xp and i installed xp
so far the motherboard information gives 810e system
and even the manufacturer 810e system
thanks for the replies

Download SIW from the link below and use it to determine what hardware you have. If you can't get on the internet with that computer then get the stand alone version and copy it to flash drive, CDR, etc and run from there.
