air duct and cpu not aligned

Specs: Windows 7, Intel 3.06 GHz/ 2 gigs
I noticed that air duct is not aligned with processor properly. Actually its misaligned by a full air duct diameter length to the right of the processor. Is this normal? Does air duct serve its purpose at all? Should I keep it that way or should I remove the air duct?

However, there are no problems with temperatures (at least I think so): at idle cpu temp hover around 35 °C, at load up to 55 °C (note: I've never tested it at full load for a longer periods since I have no intention to use this machine more than for watching movies and basic office tasks).

To show you what the situation looks like, I took a pic: (of course mind the perspective, side panel edges are aligned).

You can clearly see that cpu and air duct are verticaly misaligned.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Maybe it's supposed to be that way. If not, and it works, why worry. Now, on to world hunger.

You'll be fine. Stop to think of all the PCs that don't even have an air duct on the side.

So the duct is mounted on the side panel? Where does it funnel the air to? Is that the original motherboard in that case?

The cpu has a heatsink and fan. The only time I've seen a cpu cooling duct is when the cpu is cooled by an external exhaust fan or an external PSU fan. And in those cases the cpu had just a heatsink with rather large fins.
