"I copied and pasted the details again"

There must have been something in whatever you attempted to paste that's not agreeable with the site. Just post the model number, that's all we need to know. There should be a label or sticker somewhere on tower.

I was running Win7 on a 10 yr old laptop (HP zv6000) with just 1.5GB RAM & the performance was acceptable but I eventually switched to Linux (Zorin OS). If your computer has enough memory (at least 2GB) or can be upgraded to that much (or more), it will most likely run Win7. I would stay away from Win8 until they get the bugs out of it. The next release should be the one to get, or just wait for Win9 which is just a year away.

Don't you think it would be a good idea to post the model number?

If it came with XP it must be older than 5 years.

If you can't get the info from asus' site you should be able to google the model number with the word 'review' and check the dates of the reviews that come up. They would have been done when the computer first came out.

I copied and pasted the details again and once more it was not accepted in the post. I have now investigated further and realise that this computer is too old to run Windows 7 or 8 so Heigh Ho off we go to buy a new one.
I thank you for trying to help me.

Yes it's odd that the words appeared fine in your #2 and #5 yet something objected to a model number in the text of either of them. I'm rather baffled.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Yeah that's odd. Just for our own satisfaction try posting the model number again but this time add some spaces between the letters so it won't be filtered out.
