Advise about using panasonic speakers

Specs: Windows XP, cpu Pentium D Ram 3 GB
I am using ASUS P5B motherboard.The cpu is Pentium D and the rams is 3 GB Kingston...
I have a pair of Panasonic speakers;
MODEL SB 500 (UK)
IMPEDANCE 4 Ohms
PEAK INPUT 40 WATT MAX.
SERIAL NO. JI 7407
MADE IN THE UK

Is it technically possible to connect these speakers to this motherboard? I wanted to be advised in case any damage..

The speakers won't work plugged into the motherboard. They are passive speakers, they need an amplified source and all you get from the motherboard is a low power, higher impedance output. So you either need to get an amplifier to go between your PC and your speakers or get a pair of powered speakers (which are just speakers with a built in amplifier).
