"the whole rig is around 4 years old"

It may have been assembled around 4 years ago, but the CPU is from 2011 (discontinued in 2013) & the board from 2012. The graphics card is about a year old (or less).

I wouldn't buy from anyone who I regarded as "shady".

I agree with phil22. You didn't mention any operating system. If one is included at all it may be a bootleg copy which will cause you grief. Used computers usually don't bring any more than half price at most.

Shop the parts on the internet to see what they would cost. 430 Euros =$ 511 dollars.

The graphics card has been upgraded recently but other than that, it's a 5-6 year old PC (based on the CPU & motherboard). Do you know how old the HDDs are? As was pointed out by OtheHill, there's no OS listed & being that your friend is "shady", it may be bootlegged. You didn't list any peripherals so would you just be buying the tower? Did you look around to see what you can get brand new for approx 430 Euros with a warranty?

EDIT: a bootlegged OS won't be an issue if you intend to wipe the HDD & reinstall the OS from scratch. Personally, I wouldn't want a "used" OS with who-knows-what installed.

430 Euros is around $480 (US). You can buy an awful lot of (new) computer for that right now:

It is always worth making the effort if you don't want to be ripped off.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
