November 5, 2010 at 09:57:51
Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium
Hello,

After Cleaning my system unit and now my computer won't start Upon powering:

Monitor: No Signal
Fans: On (cpu, case, video card, and power supply)
Hard Disk: On (on lights, no sounds)
CD Rom: On (on lights, no sounds, does open)
No Beeps.
Power lead: Off

First I disassemble my pc and then I assembled it then it happened :

Monitor: No Signal
Fans: On (cpu, case, video card, and power supply)
Hard Disk: On (on lights, no sounds)
CD Rom: On (on lights, no sounds, does open)
No Beeps.
Power lead: On

Then I re-assembled it unfortunately it happened this:

Monitor: No Signal
Fans: On (cpu, case, video card, and power supply)
Hard Disk: On (on lights, no sounds)
CD Rom: On (on lights, no sounds, does open)
No Beeps.
Power lead: Off

So what's the problem? I can't determine .. huhu :(

I only removed the video card, sound card, lan card and cables.
The rest like fan of cpu, cpu, 2 rams.

Please help me! Thanks :(

Was the computer running OK prior to your cleaning?

Did you use a vacuum cleaner on the PC?

Did you unplug the computer from the wall before touching it?

If the answers to the above questions are Yes, No, No then you must have reassembled incorrectly. Double check all cables and cards to verify they are fully seated.

Why did you disassemble. Not really a good idea. Canned compressed air will do a much better job.

You may have damaged one or more of the components by static discharge from a vacuum or even a nylon brush.

Disassembled? Did you remove the heatsink from the CPU? If you did, did you remove all the old thermal paste from the top of CPU & bottom of heatsink? Did you apply fresh paste before reinstalling the heatsink? Did you apply it correctly?

The most likely cause is that you have reassembled incorrectly.

If you disconnected all the wiring you may not have reconnected all necessary wiring.

Modern systems usually need an extra power cable to the motherboard. You may have missed that. Also, your add in video card may require an extra power cable.

If you don't hear any beeps at start up that may be an indication that you have not fully seated the memory sticks, or you have them backward. There are notches on the modules that match bumps in the memory slot.

Your computer doesn't need the lan, sound or even the video add in cards in order to boot. Try removing all of those items and connecting the monitor to the on board video port.

If you disconnected the case to motherboard wiring you could have easily got those wrong.

Post in detail what wires you actually messed with.

Go over all wiring connections, even if you didn't disconnect them. You may have dislodged them when inside the case.

Sounds like you need to find someone that knows a little more about PCs than you do to help you.
