Acer Aspire One auto shut down issue

Specs: Windows XP, 128mb
My Acer Aspire One powers off after about 1 minute during booting XP. Sometimes it will boot up fully but never stays on longer than about 5 mins. Suspect heat/fan issue. The fan kicks in for about 5 seconds at the start of the booting up but then will not come onagain at-all. Is it a fan issue or maybe a faulty cpu or motherboard.

128mb memory isn't enough to run win xp, upgrade memory.
Better check cpu temp.

Thanks for your reply.
The problem is that the computer usually shuts off before fully booting up. It is dififcult to install any software.
I have heard that flashing the bios can cure this. Any thoughts?
