Solved Acer Aspire 5050 LCD doesn't display correctly

Specs: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 64-bit, 1.6 GHz / 1024 MB of RAM
Hello everyone,

I've had my Acer Aspire 5050 notebook for a few years now; I usually use it when I am away from my desktop, or have a friend over and want to do a LAN party on a video game. About a year ago I began having trouble with the LCD screen on the notebook.

Now, the screen will only display completely white, or part of the desktop with white, garbled lines over some areas. If I apply some pressure to the top left corner of the bezel, the screen will work perfectly fine. I was wondering if this might be an easy fix; perhaps repairing or replacing a cable, because entire replacement screens for the netbook are a mighty $80+ on eBay.

System Specifications:

Acer Aspire 5050

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 32-bit

AMD Turion 64 Mobile MK-36

2.00 GHz, 896MB of RAM

ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 GPU

Do not hesitate to ask if you need additional information.

Thank you,

Comguy

hook up the laptop to an external monitor and check how the display goes, i would assume its a cable problem, but lets make sure it is not a hardware issue so connect the laptop to an external monitor and tell us if this happens again on the external monitor.

Thank you for your reply, toxict51.

I have been using the netbook on both external VGA monitors using the external VGA plug, and on televisions using the S-Video output. They both work flawlessly.

Thanks,

Comguy

Update;

Ended up just replacing the screen upon finding a replacement for cheap.
