Specs: Windows 7
I have a 150 Gig Hitachi lap top hard drive that I have cleaned and formatted then inserted into a external drive enclosure to be used as an external back up unit but it only allows me to access 31gigs. What can I do to access the other 119 gigs. Thanks.

A 150GB HDD is approx 139.7GB, so you're missing approx 108.7GB. When you "cleaned and formatted" the drive, did you delete all partitions then create a single new one? If you look at the drive in Disk Management, does it show the 108+GB as unallocated space?

That is correct. I see 79.79 GB Unallocated. Is it simple to get it back? Thanks.

You can either start again; delete the current partition; then repartition the drive to encompass the whole drive; then (re)format.

Or simply create another partition encompassing the balance of the drive; and format it.

This is all done via Disk Management

Is it partitioned NTFS, exFAT/FAT64 or FAT32? Windows won't normally allow fat32 partitions larger than 32 gig, which is the size of your partition.
