Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire 5930G, my screen is broken and I'm using an external monitor, the first thing I see is the windows login screen, the boot up screen won't show.
Is there a way to access BIOS on my external screen? I need to format.

( Fn + F5 doesn't work, I' ve tried it several times)

Thank you but that wasn't my question. The BIOS doesn't appear on my external monitor, the monitor starts when windows loads.

I can enter BIOS, but I see nothing, that's the point... The laptop monitor is broken (totally black) and the external doesn't show up the start up stuff, the first thing I see, is the Windows login page.

All I can do is inside windows, no F keys at start up.

Maybe I haven't described the situation properly.

The laptop's screen panel is broken.
The external monitor is permanently connected to the laptop and I have set it as default monitor.
When I press the power button, to open the laptop, I don't see the start up screen, some seconds later, the external monitor opens and I see the windows login screen.

There's no point in entering BIOS or whatever because I don't see any of these.

... sorry faih ... seems strange that it is'nt picking up the bios post!

... guessing you could try <F12> then use arrow up/down [press enter]

.. to see if it'll boot boot from cd(?)

... then again will you see the cd post(?)

... (more info recovery) I've used external monitors on busted laptop screens before without a problem seeing bios

... sorry I jumped the gun a bit!
