Just built a computer for a mate heres the specs AMD 965 BE AM3
8GB Corsair CMX8GX3M4A1600C9
Corsair 1000w PSU
2 x 500GB HDDs SATA
2 x 1TB HDDs SATA
GA-MA790FXT-UD5P
Gigabyte 285Was very unstable, regular freezing, randomly failed to boot, randomly shut down, was unable to use it stabily until screen saver kicked in. Contacted Gigabyte was told update BIOS, did that and it killed the mobo. Returned that for a new mobo
GA-790FXTA-UD5
Same problem. So I did the following
Changed the RAM over to a stick of Transcend 2 GB 1333 - No difference
Changed PSU to a 420w - No difference
Changed video card to a 9500 - no difference
I have just changed the hard drive to an old 80GB IDE HDD that I had laying around and It seems perfectly fine. As yet I have not tried with a different SATA drive and will be doing that very shortly.
I have also noticed that the CPU fan peeks really high at about 5000 or something like that
Could this be a 790FX chipset issue
I don't think it is a chipset issues. And u have already found the problem "hdd".
