32 bit systems have a 4g ram limit, why we went to 64bit. That number includes all system ram including any used by the video card. So the usable memory is the 4g minus video support. So I am not sure where in the control panel you are seeing that number, but if for example you had 4g ram, and a 1g is used to control the video. You have 3g usuable. Of the 3g when the system is up and running it will require resources and you will have less than 3 g usable to the computer. 1g devoted to video, 3g left-minus any currently used resources for system and applications.

So out of 4G RAM then something is using best part of 3G. If graphics is possibly using 1G then something else is using 2G. Is this from boot up?

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del then select Task Manager. It should show you what is using it all.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
