3 lines/strips appearing on the screen

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a problem with the screen of the laptop. There are 2 narrow, dark grey lines appearing around 2 cm above the task bar, they are all screen wide, they do not disappear whatever I launch on my system. Could you tell me how I could get rid of them? Do you think it might be screen's fault?
Thanks in advance for any help!

You can tell if it is the screen itself by attaching the laptop to an external monitor. If you don’t have the horizontal lines when viewing on the external monitor, it is the laptop screen that needs replacing.

If the same lines are visible on external monitor it means the graphics chip on the motherboard is faulty and in most cases that would require replacement of the entire motherboard.

Thank you very much for the reply!
Is there another way I could check what is faulty? Unfortunately, I do not have access to any external monitor

You could try gently rubbing on the screen parallel to the dark line. Use a soft cloth and don't push too hard. Worth a try.
