2nd hard drive (data) not detected by Win 7

Specs: Windows 7
hi folks i recently swopped my 250 gb SATA Maxtor internal drive for a new Hitachi 2 TB internal drive leaving my secondary dirve, a WD 1 TB in place, full of my media files.

I installed Windows 7 on the new 2TB drive and everything is working ok except whilst the original 1 TB data drive is detected by the BIOS it is not detected by windows ...

I went to START then right clicked on 'Computer, then pressed 'Manage' then 'Disk Management' under 'Storage' - my new 2 TB drive is showing up as Drive 0 but the old 1 TB is only becoming visible if i right click on it - any option here to make it readable would mean partitioning/formatting the 1 tb drive and me losing the data on it - is this true?

If win7 is anything like XP in regards to disk management you will need to take ownership before you can read any data.

just discovereed how to fix this problem ... in Disk Management under 'Storage' right clikcthe drive - if you press properties you can confirm its the unreadable disk - then press 'import foreign disk then ok and hey presto it works!
