Trying to play emulated games on my pc with a tv

Specs: Windows 10
I have been playing emulated video games on my pc's for years now. When I got rid of my computer screen and started playing from a television screen, some games stopped working, I think most of the time due to a resolution problem. For example, the game that I am trying to play right now, it tells me "Cannot find 640x480 video mode". There is a specific option in the Compatibility to fix this problem, and I checked it off, and the game still will not run. I also try to run the game using the most compatible version of windows and that will not work either. I dont know a lot about television hardware just fyi. My dad hooked up my tv to the computer, I dont know how to do that stuff. I am wondering if there is a cable or something that I can buy that will fix the resolution problem that happens when I try to emulate some games on my pc.

You should have kept that PC monitor you used to have.

Buy another one - - basic monitors don't cost much if you don't need one with all the latest features.

The TV can't handle the resolution in question. I don't know what emulator you're using, but if it has a windowed mode, use that.
