The Sims 3 Visual Issue

Specs: Windows XP
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHZ
2.0GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

Hello everyone,

I just installed the sims 3 and my computer well exceeds the games requirements but wen the game starts and plays it has many small white horizontal boxes/Lines that change when the picture changes.

The game itself is really really slow, My computer on the other hand runs fine, everything is up to date, video card drivers etc.

I went to a program from NVIDIA that shows a demo of a visual effect, which ran fine there was no problem, but when it went back to home, in the box it had those same white boxes/lines, It's hard to explain.

So I'm beginning to think its something i have to download or its the video card which is brand new bought it today.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I took out the new NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS video card and used the integrated one alone.

I restarted and opened the Sims 3 and it was working, a bit faster but still laggy, and those small horizontal white lines were gone...

So it has something to do with the video card itself or something i have to download. Please help, I want this to work.

Note *** I put the new video card back in and using it as of now, Reinstalled original drivers and set up optimal settings wizard, and still the white horizontal lines/boxes appear when the picture changes. ***

Thanks again.

U have already meet system requirement for playing sims3 but u have crappy system for gaming (p4, 8400gs)
go to nvidia website & download latest driver for your v-card then un-install the current driver & install new driver. What happens when playing other games?

No it only does it for the Sims 3, War craft frozen throne works fine no white lines, but it does it when i go to setup 3D settings, in NVIDIA control center, it will show it in the 2 picture boxes, but not the actual 3d box... All drivers are now up to date still problem,
