i was just wondering whether you could remove the the video card from the case to increase the cooling
not worried about the warranty just a thought what dos every one think?

i ask this because my card runs very hot on games like bio shock for some reason up to 89 0c and then shuts down can anyone give some advice please? other games like hawx runs at 60 0c and 60fps every time

You could take it out, but how are you planning on running games without it?

He doesn't want to remove the card from the case, he wants to remove the "case" from around the GPU cooling fan. Here's a pic:

IMO, the manufacturer wouldn't have use the "case" if it wasn't necessary. It appears that it acts as a duct to exhaust the GPU heat out the rear of the PC. I would leave it in place. 89C is definitely on the warm side, but I doubt it's dangerous. Most GPUs have a safe max of 125C. If you do a little googling & you'll find plenty of GTX260's to be mid 50's at idle, mid 80's under full load. In this article, the temp peaked at 84C:
