Specs: Windows 8
my screen flickers when using an xfx r9 280x. it usually only flickers in 2D, its mostly fine when im in game but still flickers sometimes and is very annoying out of game. I've tried changing the inputs/monitors, and updating my drivers and changing the resolutions and refresh rates and nothing has helped

Press Ctrl + R key. Type dxdiag in the Run box that arrives then hit the Enter key.
Look under the various headings for errors and run the tests. Let us know what you find, if anything.

EDIT:
Also let us know your DirectX version please.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Updating BIOS should only be done if an update is intended to fix the exact problem you are having - if it goes wrong you are stuck. See if your computer manufacturer has a BIOS update to fix this issue, otherwise leave it alone. Usually BIOS updates are for allowing different hardware, such as a CPU.

Best post the make and model number of your computer - it might help us.

Are you overclocking by any chance?

its a custom computer. ive looked into the problem with my gpu and xfx employees have recommended a bios fix, for my specific card. now i dony know if mine is having the exact same problem but everyone seems to be having this issue with this card. and im not overclocking but the card is made overclocked. but ive already tried reducing the settings with no help
