Oblivion's Grass is an FPS Killer

Hey all.

I just started playing Oblivion. I have a pretty decent PC, and it was able to play Skyrim with nearly everything maxed out (no standard AA, but FXAA on, and shadows set to low) without a hitch. It ran well throughout the entire game.

Now, I am playing Oblivion. The latest NVIDIA drivers, unfortunately, removed the ability to force enable AA with HDR, so I am playing with bloom and AA and whatever else turned up and it's running great. HOWEVER, the grass kills my framerate.

If the grass slider is moved even ONE UNIT to the right and the grass only appears at my feet as I walk, I lose 10 or more FPS. If the grass is off, everything runs smooth as silk.

Has anybody else seen this? I am basically just playing it without grass, which I could really give a s--- about (it looks weird in Oblivion anyway), but what gives? Why can I crank the grass up in Skyrim, but Oblivion gets a beat down from it? Is my video card lacking in one particular specification that handles animated sprites?

I guess I'm just hoping someone has either had this issue or knows what's going on. Thanks in advance!

Any mod installed?

You know the real meaning of peace only if you have been through the war.

How are we supposed to know? You didn't post the make/model of your graphics.
