Hello, my friend has a virus on his computer that I am unable to remove. I also think the registry is messed up. I want to wipe his harddrive and reinstall the Operating System, but I need to save his saved game files. Do you know how I can do this or were to start looking?

Just remove the virus, but don't do it from Windows.

as for his WoW files, is he worried he'll loose his character if he loses his computer? You can tell him to rest easy - those files reside on Blizzard's servers. If you installed WoW on your computer and he logged in with his Battle.NET account information, he would see his characters, along with all their weapons and armor.

the only things that get saved locally are interface related - if he shifted the minimap to the left corner instead of the right corner, etc., that would be reset. And if he has any ADDONs installed (like ReCount or QuestHelper), he will need to download and reinstall those as well.
