Specs: Windows 7, 8 GB RAM
So I recently got a refurbished Dell desktop computer and it runs fine. Microsoft 7 professional, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.30 GHz processor speed, Integrated/On-Board Graphics, 8 GB RAM, 8 GB Memory, 1 TB Hard drive. I got bored one day and noticed how well it did with online games, however when I would download a game it would just stop working when it came to setting up the graphics. So when I downloaded GMod I thought it would be fine. However it started up but then stayed on a black screen except a little pop-up saying "Not Support." Then when I exited the app a pop-up said that the set-up was not the optimal set-up for my computer. However, when I would change the resolution it would end up the same way as when I tried to play the game.

Your best first step might be to run System Restore to a date before you installed GMod. Type System Restore in Search.

Once this is done maybe we can help with the original download issue.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Ultimately, if you want to do any significant gaming you will have to purchase a compatible graphics card that is suitable for gaming and works within the limitations of your power supply and the room in your case. In the mean time, follow Derek's advice and reverse what you did.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

It would help to know the model/model number of your Dell, but as alluded to above, good gaming requires a good graphics card. More than likely you're using integrated graphics (IGP), not an actual video card, & IGPs are very limited when it comes to gaming. You will most likely have to install a true gaming card & possibly upgrade the power supply as well.
