Specs: Windows 7
pretty much i got a new computer and every game i play the ping is 2 to 3 times higher than what it used to be on my old computer. the only way i can get the ping down to normal is by disabling my sound card. i know its weird, but on cs:s (counter strike : source) my ping went from ~200-400 to ~30. and on crossfire it went from 120 to ~35. do you have any idea if getting a new sound card will fix the problem, or any other suggestions i can do to get a lower ping?

The only way (and this is a stretch) is if you have a virus in your sound drivers. What causes you ping to be bad is (slow internet access obviously) and if you have a virus which is sending information across the internet eating up your bandwidth.

Now here is another stretch, if you are using WiFi to connect to the internet (which if you are a real gamer you would not) then you sound card could be generating radio at 2.4 MHz interfering with your Wifi. If that was the case change your WiFi channel on your Wireless Router.
