Headset Microphone doesnt work with USB adapter

Hopefully you guys can help me out with this.
So i recently just got a new headset for my laptop (Acer Aspire e15) because the old one broke and when the old headset broke it also broke the aux port for my laptop so i decided to use a USB adapter for my new headset. The problem is i can HEAR perfectly with my headset plugged in with the USB adapter but the MICROPHONE doesn't work, except for the fact that when i put it really close to my mouth it makes a high pitch robot noise. I know the headset isn't broken because i tested it on another computer without the USB adapter and i worked perfectly, but with the USB adapter it also didn't work. But i don't believe it is the USB adapters fault because i tried a separate headset on my laptop with the USB adapter and it worked perfectly. So i think it has to do with some settings that i cant figure out, I've already gone through the whole set the microphone and speaker to default and looked through my drivers to see if any needed to be updated, but they all say the best one is already installed.

Does the USB adapter require a driver? Is it installed? Is it the latest from their website?
Does the USB adapter list that it is for stereo headphones with mike, stereo headphones, or mono headphone/ear plug with mike (two or three contacts on jack and plug)? There are likely multiple types available.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
