where did u read hd 5770 cause problem? Hd 5770 is a good gaming card, if u can afford it buy it. Make sure u meet psu requirements. Pentium dual core e2200 isn't a bad cpu, if u have nice board (u didn't mention) u can overclock it to 2.5-3.0ghz. 1gb of ram isn't enough, add more memory (atleast 2gb ddr2 800 or 667). Update to service pack 3.

The HD5000 cards seem to have issues with some PCIe 1.0A nVidia chipsets, such as the nForce4. However, they work fine with Intel 1.0A chipsets. And of course, they'll work with all PCIe 1.1 and 2.0 chipsets.

I have an HD 5750 and it does not work at all with my nForce4 SLI-based system (no POST). However the card works fine in my Pentium M rig, which is based on a 1.0A Intel chipset.

Looks like you're using a G31-based board, so you're good to go.
