Halo CE wont work.

February 28, 2009 at 14:17:11
Specs: Windows XP
A problem occured initializing DirectDraw. Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, please run DXDIAG.
This message pops up everytime I try to play a Halo trial that I downloaded. I opened DXDIAG and the only tab with problems was display. I know I need to enable directdraw acceleration but the enable button is grayed out and says disable and next to directdraw acceleration it says not available. In the info box at the bottom it says: The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. To test DirectDraw funcionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above. Direc3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer. What am I supposed to do?

"What am I supposed to do?"

You didn't bother to post your system specs but based on what you wrote, you probably don't have a video card that's supported by the game.

Try this & see what you come up with:

"when i download a driver where do i save it to?"

How can you download a driver if you don't know which video card you have? If you know which video card you have, why didn't you post the make/model?

You can save it wherever you want...Desktop, My Documents, etc. As long as you remember where it is. After the download is complete, then you have to install it.

I see another problem though:

"You Have: 191 MB PASS "

191MB isn't even to run XP decently, let alone play games with it. You should have no less than 512MB...more would be better.
