grand theft auto 4 fails to start up

Specs: windows 7, 2gb
when i try and start up gta 4 a box pops up that says failure to initialize graphics incompatible display mode. my board is a gigabyte ga 8i865gme-775-rh windows 7, 2GB RAM and i am using the standard on board video. im guessing my standard graphics aren't enough to run gta 4 i am already using swift shader. i just want to make gta 4 run on my computer i don't care if its slow. i will try anything.

You may need to install a more powerful graphics card with specifications that meet or exceed the requirements of the game.

However, it may just be that you're trying to run it with the wrong display resolution so try adjusting that.

GTA 4 on an onboard GPU is not gonna make it. Atleast it won`t be anything playable.

Your problem though, might be software-related. Check if the MB drivers (actually those for the onboard GPU) are properly installed and update them to the latest version.
