Compatible Adapters Issue With The Sims 2

So I'm having a rather frustrating issue with my PC. About six months ago I got a PC that could run the games I had, since my old one wasn't good enough. I installed The Sims 2 and all of the EPs up to Seasons, and they worked wonderfully. I then got ahold of The Sims 3, and decided to uninstall all of my Sims 2 stuff. Today, I went and re-installed my Sims 2 games, and I came across an error message saying that I didn't have the DirectX9.0 compatible adapters. I' have no idea what the problem is, I've never come across it in any game, and like I said before, the PC used to run this like a cheetah. The PC more than meets the recommended requirements. Anyone knows what the problem is?

"came across an error message saying that I didn't have the DirectX9.0 compatible adapters"

The system requirements for SIMS 3 are much higher than SIMS 2. The SIMS 2 will run on just about any piece of crap system, not so with SIMS 3. It would appear that your video card isn't up to the task.
