Can't play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Specs: Windows Vista
When I click "Play" in main menu a small black window appears in the upper left of the screen and I receive an error message. So, I need to know whether it's a hardware or software issue and how to resolve it. I would rather not buy a new laptop...

you didn't at least want to share the error message?

posting full system specs helps too...possibly your laptop just can't handle the graphics...

The VGN-CR140E/B NoteBook is not a gamer. Find the specs here:

The Intel GMA X3100 ranks 216th out of 258 laptop graphics tested:

Looking at the minimum system requirements, I doubt those graphics are supported:
