I moved to a new town in an apartment complex that offers free broadband internet. I am connected directly to the wall without a router or modem and all my internet browsing works fine. CNET.com tells me my connection speed is about 1000kbps.
The problem is I can not login to games like wacraft 3, WoW, steam, or league of legends. For league of legends for example, I am able to patch everything fine automatically through the launcher, but then when I log in it doesn't get passed "logging in" and then gives me the message "Connection Failure: Unable to connect to the PVP.net server." Similar messages appear for all other online games.
I have tried opening all possible ports the games use on my firewall, and after that not working I just turned windows xp firewall off. I have no other firewall.
Perhaps my free ISP has a way to block logging in to online games? Is that even possible?
Any help or insight is appreciated.
