i remember running halo 2 with radeon x800xl pcie(high settings). We need to know the system name or board name. Click start>run>type msinfo32 hit ok>system information window appear the look right side for system model and post the model here.

u have good board why stick to p4 cpu? There a lot of cheap intel cpu eg. Pentium dual core e series of celeron e series. If u add decent cpu, ram (2gb or 4gb), v-card (gts 250), psu (+12v@30A) u will be able to run newer titles.
Anyway Hd 4650 or nvidia 220gt gddr3/6800gt will run halo 2 max settings.

No it ain't, even a Celeron Dual-Core CPU E1200 1.6 Ghz is way better than that old Pentium 4 CPU.
And FYI Halo 3 is not available for PC, it's an Xbox360 exclusive.

pentium dual core e2180, e2200, e2220 or if u have a low budget look for cerelon e series like the one g-f listed (cerelon e1200). That board support up to 1600fsb, this means u can hit 3ghz with no issues.

but games like halo 2 requirz a cpu frequency of 3.00Ghz..
so a e1200 having 1.6GHz would be a little to less i think ;(

there is no 1600fsb cpu, 1333fsb is max for intel cpu but u can reach 1600fsb by overclocking.
Celeron e1200 will flash p4 3ghz (dual core vs single core). The price is under $50.

cpu=external and internal speed
internal speed=1.6ghz
external speed=1333 fsb (333 actual) 1333/4
cpu use this fsb to commucate to other components eg. Ram etc.
Overclock= is the process of running computer component at higher clock rate than it was designed for. Eg. Cerelon e1200 1.6ghz can run @ 3ghz(overclock)

Halo 2 requires a single core CPU at minimum but an E1200 CPU is a dual core CPU (1.6 X 2, not 3.2 GHZ).

E1XXX, E2XXX have ony 1Mb of L2 cache.
Since GTAIV is one of those few games that fully utilizes your extra core(s)/L2 cache. I'd recommend a E5300 or even better a Q8200 (coupled with a GT 240 GDDR5 of course).
