... "pdf file" is a document can be opened with acrobat reader which is a massive download and hogs your system! ... click "start" run (type) devmgmt.msc [press enter]
... do you see any yellow markers?
... in "run" this time (type) mmsys.cpl [press enter]
... untick the "mute" box press "ok" now see if everything is ok
... if not muted click Audio (tab) then under "Sound playback" Default device: click the box and see if you can toggle (<<click) to another device as it may be set to a modem(?) .... "ok"

hello mavis
i went to devmgmt.msc and beside sound card is a yellow flag and it says device wont start (code 10)
i went to mmsys.cpl and under audio tab it says no audio device found cant adjust anything
code 10 says a conflict between the card and the drivers
i went to motherboard maker VIA tec and they sent me a driver program (vinyl_v700b) for the c-media ac 97 sound card now
1. how do i install it
2. do i install the whole thingwhen i looked at the programs inside the sound card they reported each one is running ok?
thanks again john cameron
... if its an application right click it option "open" ... if its a "zip" file right click option "extract"
... might aswell install it all, see what happens.
