The fact that you are downloading on Win8 shouldn't matter, unless you are being directed automatically to a Win8 driver. Maybe you have disc trouble - are you using a CD-RW or a CD-R? The safest way is to use CD-R, burn it at the slowest possible speed and finalize it.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

As Derek states, it shouldn't matter. CD's (that have been finalized) should read from one M$ OS to another. I write discs on Win7 and and able to read them on every OS back to Win3.1. You don't state what you're writing them with or if your finalizing them. If you don't finalize, then the disc will be unreadable on any machine other than the one it's written on.

thanks for showing another way to solve a problem I finally have my files
I copied the files(zipfiles) to win c drive then unzipped them to the win8 c drive then copied the unzipped files to disc using cyberlink the win 98 computer now recognizes the disc just waiting for the install wizard to load.

OIC, the disk wasn't recognised because the files were zipped - makes sense.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
