video resolution for windows98 PC

Specs: Windows 98, intel pentium II /192mb
can I get resolution better than 640x480 and/or display > 16color using win98 drivers ?
am using Sony trinitron CPD-220GS 17" monitor
This is an older intel Pentium II, PC400, with video card made in China - mfr unknown, belongs to a neighbor. they had repeated crashes with it, I assumed it was due to having XP on it, so loaded it with win98 and it seems to work fine... just trying to upgrade the video resolution if possible?

The resolution will be dependent on the video card. Likely Windows XP does not have a driver for this card and it has fell back to standard VGA mode. To get better resolution you must have the proper drivers. Maybe you can obtain a cheap video card for which you can obtain drivers.
