Solved USB ports are not working

Specs: WINDOWS 8 SINGLE LANGUAGE, Intel core i3 2.4Ghz with 4GB Ram
I'm using HP PAVILION G6 2231TX laptop with Windows8 single language. But now all the USB ports are not working. HP care people told that it's a problem with OS, check by reinstalling the OS. So do I need to reinstall the OS or is there any other solution for this ?

Do you have any restore points set prior to the problem?

Before you near any kind of re-installation/factory restore etc... ensure "all" your personal files are copied safely off the system as is. Typically to DVD but an external hard drive is nice(r) too. Check the copies are accessible on at least one other working system of possible.

Then you can set about resolving the problem if the restore point approach doesn't fix it; knowing your personal files are safe elsewhere.

Wise to regularly copy/duplicate your personal "stuff" to external storage; just incase"sumat" goes awry at any time..

There are two types of restore, "System Restore" and "Factory Restore".

"System Restore" does not affect any of your own data and programs - you just choose a point before the problem came along then sit back and let Microsoft fix it for you.

"Factory Restore" puts the computer right back to how it was when you bought it, so all of your own stuff vanishes.

Now you have read the above, do you still prefer not to use "System Restore" for some reason? It's easy to try and doesn't take too long - no discs necessary. You go to Control Panel (right click Windows icon bottom left of taskbar), choose "Recovery" and then "Open System Restore". You can also get there by typing it into the Start Screen (one with the blocks) but make sure you select the correct option to keep your stuff.
