Samsung external hard drive not recognized by

May 9, 2011 at 16:08:52
Specs: Macintosh
I bought my 500gb Samsung external hard drive a few months ago and it has been working fine. But recently it has been ejecting itself and not copying files to it. Now it seems it cant be accessed. I can see it in my disk utility but cannot access it on my desktop or in finder. I have lots of files on there that i need, but had to store them on there to free up some space on my MacBook Pro. I don't know how to access the files on the hard drive, i have read a few posts on the internet and purchased DiskWarrior but that can't see the hard drive. I can't repair it on the Utility but i am allowed to do the rest; erase, partition etc. Is there any way to recover my important files? And now it says that it is not formatted yet I was able to access it and store all my files on there since purchase. Im using this via USB. Please help.

It could be the USB container.
Does it work on another Mac computer?
Can you remove it from the enclosure and attach it directly to the internal drive interface? SATA?

Apologies for such a late response, i've been away. Thanks for posting, i finally found that Disk Drill software has recognised my files (had no luck with disk warrior or data rescue - they could not even see any files). I've just got to wait to purchase the full software, but it feels like i've found the right software at last and can sort it all out.
Appreciate your original posting, thanks.
