Non-existent HID-Compliant Keyboard Issue

January 17, 2014 at 06:46:19
Specs: Windows XP
Hi everyone,

Recently my laptop's keyboard & trackpad suddenly stopped working (no changes in HW or SW) although it's fine in safe mode.
(It's winxp sp3 nec versa) I checked the dev. man. & there was suddenly a HID-Compliant keyboard that has never been attached, there is no option to disable it even in safe mode.

I can remove it & sometimes that fixes the issue but it can reinstall any time.
I eventually tried disabling and/or removing anything related to keyboards or usb but nothing permanently fixed the problem.

I gave up, formatted the HD & tried a reinstall of windows, the keyboard & mouse work up to the point where windows begins installing drivers, then the keyboard & trackpad are useless again - during the windows install!! there is no other hardware & attached & I have reset the BIOS several times, the only way I can get around it is to use a usb mouse & keyboard.

I'm finding it hard to get info on this problem, has anyone heard of a fix for this kind of issue???

Thx for any help

install a newer version of Windows. and use windows update to detect missing drivers in your system.. Try that..
