Solved need RS/RX482SB400 board driver

July 20, 2012 at 03:39:04
Specs: Windows XP PRO 2002 SP3, Pentium D 2.66
I need a driver for RS/RX482SB400 motherboard. I have this name from Belarc Advisor but I don't even know which company this board is to start looking for the driver.
I just reformatted and installed windows but in device manager I still have yellow exclamation marks on the following:

multimedia audio controller
raid controller
SM bus controller
video controller.

all help is much appreciated, thank you!

I can't find the manufacturer's name either for that model number using Google, so it may have been custom-made for the PC manufacturer (it was commonly used in Philip's "Iqon" models sold at large Tesco stores & elsewhere).

Unfortunately the web is full of desperate people looking for drivers for that obscure motherboard. You might have some success if you use driver finding software such as "Driver Detective": http://www.drivershq.com/

You install it on the computer you need drivers for, but it won't work unless you can connect to the internet (for obvious reasons).

✔ Best Answer
You need either:

a) Motherboard manufacturer / mosel

b) if it is an OEM machine ie Dell, IBM , HP etal the model number

Install hwinfo32 if you are still stuck

http://www.hwinfo.com

There is also a program called Unknown Device Identifier, though just use for identifying what drivers are missing:

I realised that Belarc Advisor also gave this information:

Main Circuit Board
Board: RS/RX482SB400
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: Pheonix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 11/03/2005

I don't know if this is helpful to decide on the drivers

thanks for your feedback!

driver detective requires installment of microsoft.NET framework2.0 (x86) and gives the option to automatically download but then an error occurs during download. so driver detective doesn't work for me.

hwinfo32 gives chipset: ATI RADEON Xpress 200/1100/1150 (RS482/RS485) + SB400

unknown device identifier gives: Chip: ATI Technologies SB400 SMBus Contoller

with this information I still couldn't find the drivers I need.

a supposed amd official driver website had me install driver-tuner and that found the drivers I supposedly need but I need to pay to register and would prefer not to pay for drivers of an archaic board using xp.

any more ideas?

thanks
