Ok im sure you people have heard ths a million times but i use ti be able to just plug in my vga cord and use my Sony 40" tv (kdl40s5100) as a second monitor for my laptop. Ever since my computer crashed and i put in a new HDD and reinstalled windows xp home i havnt been able to do that, ive installed and unistalled 5 drivers that were suppose to be for my ati radeon xpress 200m and none of them has worked. currently i have 10-2 legacy catalyst installed and it detects my tv but it will only display on the tv if i have it set to 800x600 and the screen flickers to where i can barely see whats on it. i kn ow the tv displays 1300x768 at 60hz and looks great but it wont do that anymore. my pc is a compaq v200 (v2610us). thanks for any help you can give because i really want to watch some movies with my wife but its to hard on a laptop.

I had the same problem w/ my laptop. I have a dell inspiron and i watch movies on my flat screen tv. All i did was downloaded ATI CATALYST Control Center. After u download and install. Just right click your desktop and select ATI CATALYST Control Center. On the left of the window select Displays manager. On the right when that pops up select Detect Displays. Ur main should be ur laptop , in the little window beside the main display u should see ur tv just right click ur tv in the little box and select. Oh im sorry make sure that u r in the advanced options and not the basic. Good luck And God Bless!
