Name of wireless for M3910 desktop

February 8, 2012 at 02:37:35
Specs: Win 7 home 64bit
I have a new acer aspire M3910 desktop with a Realtek RTL8190 802.11n wireless LAN (Mini-) PCINIC but this driver is not working as I can see a yellow triangular mark on the Device Manager against this driver.
What I did to fix this issue is updated driver by right clicking and update driver software online. It did and restarted my machine but no avail.

I am wondering what the right name of driver is as I go on manufracture site (acer.co.uK) to download the above driver. But I came across a different driver named Ralink.....

Please help me.

You should install the Driver available from Acer Support Site, not use the Generic Windows Driver.

http://support.acer.com/us/en/defau...

To ascertain which Driver Chipset your PC was shipped with download HWINFO:

Yellow triangle means the correct driver is not installed. You must download drivers only from Acer, do not use the "Update driver" in Device Manager.

You don't need to know the name of the device or the name of it's driver when you use Acer's website. All you need is the model name & number of your PC, and to make sure you go to the correct Acer website for the country where your PC was purchased.

For United Kingdom, go here: http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/cont...
Navigate through the selection boxes to choose your PC model:
Desktop > Aspire > Aspire M3910, then click "Confirm" in the right-hand box.

On the new page, where it says "Operating System", select Windows 7 Home Premium x64. now download this driver:

LAN Driver > Realtek 7.17.304.2010 16.2 MB

If that does not work, try the other one which is also Realtek but an earlier version:
LAN Driver > Realtek 7.009.1105.2009 15.8 MB

Thank you both Jolicloud and you. This is not an issue about how and what to download and install driver from the Acer manufacture site. I already downloaded installed the driver from Acer website but it should overwrite the existing wireless driver or the driver I installed from Acer website should be listed on my device manager under network adapters. But I can see this driver on Add and Remove (Control Panels). This means it is installed but this driver is not listed in uder network adapters.

Pse note that I've already updated my pc successfully through the window update but still no luck.
You think my so-called existing driver to be unistalled!!!! And Ralink wireless driver to be installed from acer website(Manufacture) and then this driver is listed under network adapters?

Please help.

Thanks for your info. the above driver I have mentioned in my question is from window update as soon as I switched my pc on for the first time use with the internet connection. An Auto window Update has made it easier for everyone to update anything that is being needed to get it run.

I downloaded and installed the Railing wireless driver in my pc from acer web. Still not listed under network adapters. This means Railink driver is not the right driver for me. Thank you for the link to confirm the chipset ................ . Thanks again.

Thank you for your msg. Nop as I know what (PC) hardware (wireless network card) is shipped with. Thanks. The solution to my issue is to update BIOS and it works. But I am not gonna do it as a tiny mistake brick my toys. Thank you though.
