Best scanner for printer drivers. I know there are available scanners that identify and install required drivers for a printer.

Situation is my friend acquired a WA 64bit computer that replaced his old slow W XP machine. Upon attaching his HP Laser-jet 2200d printer It did not print, although being identified by the computer. It worked great on his XP computer so I suspect the 32bit driver will not work on the new 64bit machine. Trying to find the correct driver and then trying the daunting task of installing the driver is something I don't desire to do. Is there a simpler way such as a driver scanner that will identify the correct driver and install it?
Incidentally, I am helping him as he is overwhelmed.

HP Support supply a driver in self-execution able format, it does not seem difficult to install just follow the prompts:

Googling is quicker than waiting for an answer....

Drivers for HP printers are available from the HP website that's appropriate for you country. Getting the driver direct from HP is much better than installing driver scanner software. The Windows 64-bit drivers for that printer model are here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...
