Keyboard Problems when Logging on to Laptop

Specs: Windows 7
Hi guys,
Got a laptop here with windows 7 on it. The problem is, I believe, the driver of the computer has disappeared or just completely messed up. Now, I can't get into the laptop (or log-in) because when its turned it on it needs the user to press CTRL, ALT, DEL. I've tried plugging in an external keyboard and using the onscreen keyboard but neither seem to work or make any difference. The crazy thing an external mouse works fine just not any keyboard...and before it gets to the log in screen the arrow keys and enter button seem to work.
??? Any ideas. It's abit of weird one.

Cheers

Infact All the buttons seem to be working before the log in screen. I just did a keyboard test in the diagnostics and all the keys work. I don't under it to be honest. ??
