Solved improper install of Monitor driver

December 12, 2013 at 06:06:26
Specs: Windows 8, 4gig
I'm updating the video adapter and monitor for ATI Radeon X1200 for Windows Vista. Using windows 8.
The adapter updates properly and works fine, but the monitor driver remains the Microsoft generic.
How do I get the monitor driver updated? The drivers I used are from the AMD/ATI site

How old is the monitor? Make?

I suggest ignoring it.

Never had to install a monitor driver of any description since Windows 98.

Unless it's a specialist monitor of a type I'm unfamiliar with, then Windows own generic driver should be fine, whether it be from its own cache, or downloaded from Windows updates.

Clarification needed:
What's the nature of the problem? Is the monitor not displaying correctly?

Make/model/age of monitor may help.

Vista or Win8. I'm a little confused why you are downloading Vista drivers via a Win8.
I can envisage a scenario for doing so, but which OS is asking for the driver.
Can you not get online with Vista?

As I mentioned, it's not usual to have to download/install a specific driver for a monitor.
