Ibm r40 cd/dvd does not work

March 8, 2011 at 09:49:58
Specs: Windows Vista
I have IBM R40 thinkpad which used to have its CD-RW. I removed it to replace with a DVD DRIVE. BOUGHT one 6X DVD DRIVE from eBay, which does NOT get detected by the thinkpad, even I tried different drivers. Drivers I downloaded are for use on DOS only. But I want to install XP or VISTA. HOW DO I GET VISTA or XP DRIVERS for my IBM THINKPAD R40?????

There are no special drivers, is the drive recognised in BIOS ??

I do not want to use paretologic, discwizard and similar who say initially download is FREE, but later demand money for the driver without saying if driver DOES NOT work, money will be refunded. They do NOT guarantee their drivers will WORK.

The DVD Drive is LG or Teac 6X DVD IDE fixed in Unltrabay of IBM R40 Thinkpad.

NO. It is NOT recognized by IBM R40 nor seen in device manager - that's the problem.

If it is not recognised in BIOS then no Operating Sytem will recognize and install drivers.
